2.Ethical issues in genetic testing and screening in children:
- Some genrtic screening(eg-Sickel cell anaemia,Cystic fibrosis) may reveal a carrier state which may lead to choices about reproduction or create financial,psychosocial or interpersonal problems
- Newborn screening should not be used as surrogate for parental testing
- Testing for genetic diseases that appear later in life should be delayed until child has capacity to informed consent.
3.Religious issues and ethics:
- -Peadiatrician should always act in best interest of child even when religious tenets may interfare with well being of child.Eg-Strong religious beliefs may refuse immunization of their children.
4.Children as human subject in research:
- -Children cannot give consent but may assent or dissent to research protocols and these decisions should be respected.
- -Many parents of seriously ill children hope that research protocol may directly benifit their child.Researcher should be sensetive that research does not guarentee a better treatment.
5.Ethical issue surrounding scare resource allocation
- Ethical principals of justice,beneficence and non malaficence serve as guiding pillers to ensure resources are allocated in a fair manner.
